The research on the treatment of waste clam shells from seafood producing factory for exportation is a very urgent theme, helping to improve the economic value of clam shells, also solving the problematic of environment and publical health. The use of crushed clam shells to replace aggregates in concrete has been studied by many researchers worldwide. In this study, clam shells were crushed and partially substituted for fine sand in the concrete mixture with ratios of 0%, 12%, 25% and 50% respectively. The experiment specifying the physical and mechanical properties such as compressive strength, flexural tensile strength, elastic modulus and abrasion resistance, have been performed, showing a decrease in the mechanical properties of the clam shell concrete specimens compared to the control specimens but they are still satisfied the technical requirements according to the current standards. This argument proves that clam shell concrete has the potential to be used as a road surface course.
