The Rohingya crisis emerged as the issue of human rights abuses in Myanmar. For decades, Myanmar's military has engaged in acts of discrimination, repression, and violence against the Rohingya-an ethnic minority community living in Rakhine State, the west of Myanmar. Especially, in 2017, Myanmar security forces launched a devastating attack on the Rohingya community, causing thousands of Rohingya to be killed, women and girls raped, hundreds of homes and villages were burned. As the consequence, a great number of women, men, and children were forced to flee to Bangladesh caused the well-known Rohingya crisis. This article focuses on analyzing the causes of the Rohingya crisis from four aspects: Ethnic origins, Religious issues, British colonial heritage, and the Myanmar government's policy towards the Rohingya, therefore, the readers will have a more holistic view of the roots of this problem.
