Objectives: The study was carried out to measure (IMT) of the femoral artery in postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome using Doppler ultrasound. Methods: Eighty- two eligible subjects with diabetes admitted to Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital from april 2014 to December 2014 as outpatients were enrolled to this research project. All patients underwent clinical exams, laboratory tests and femoral atery Duplex ultrasound. Results: Mean age of participants were 58.98 +/- 3.8 years. Average IMT of the common femoral artery was 1.12 +/- 0.53 (right), and 1.13 +/- 0, 67 (left). Mean IMT of the right and left superficial femoral artery were 0.78 +/- 0.19 and 0,88 +/- 0,69 respectiveIy while mean IMT of the right and left profound femoral artery were 0,77 +/- 0,21 and 0,81 +/- 0,23 respectively. Forty-one and a haft percenet of the left common femoral arteries presented with IMT while this rate on the right was 31.7 percent. Atherosclerosis plaques were accounted for 2.4 percent on the left and 11 percent on the right common femoral artery repectively. Conclusion: IMT is the common ultrasound finding of common femoral artery in postmenopausal women with metabolic disorders. Atherosclerotic plaques were considered as new pathology changes.
