Need of using plateletpheresis is more and more increase now. There are 2 new apheresis machines (Trima and Comtec) in NIHBT, so the authors studied to assess and compare results of plateletpheresis between Trima machine and Comtec machine. Objectives: Comparison results of plateletpheresis and donors' some hematological values and biochemical values before and after plateletpheresis process between Trima machine and Comtec machine". Materials: 56 donors who gave plateletpheresis in Blood Collection Department, NIHBT from February 2012 to March 2012. Methods: crosssectional survey. Comparison results of plateletpheresis between Trima machine and Comtec machine; Checkup some hematological values and biochemical values in donors before and after plateletpheresis process by Trima machine and Comtec machine. Plateletpheresis units were cultured after 1, 3 and 5 days. Results: Some parameters of Trima machine and Comtec machine were: Blood volume (4233.5 + or - 350.9 and 3822.2 + or - 361.1); Platelet volume 495 + or - 22.4 ml and 501.8 + or - 5.3); Platelet count (1286.5 + or - 115.9 and 1010 + or - 169.08 G/I); ACD volume used (436.6 + or - 81.1 and 442.6 + or - 59.5 ml); Apheresis time (82.2 + or -13.1 and 95.1 + or - 11.8 minute). Platelet count of platelet unit (6.4 + or - 0.3 and 5.06 + or - 0.8 x 10 exponent 11); Two machines's hematological values and biochemial values were different before and after apheresis 15 minutes. Conclusions: Some parameters of Trima machine as apheresis time (minute), ACD volume used (ml), platelet volume collected (ml) were lower than Comtec machine but platelet count collected (G/I), blood volume (ml) in each process of Trima machine were higher than Comtec machine. Donors' hematological values and biochemial values before and after apheresis and results of bacteria culture after 1, 3, 5 days of two machines were the same.
