An effective framework for innovation and technology application is a significant priority in every country's science, technology, and innovation strategy. Innovation is critical for the economic growth of countries, regions, communities, and enterprises, particularly in the context of digital and knowledge economies. According to the report of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (2020), Central Highlands region has a relatively low level of business development compared to the whole country. The Central Highlands is also the region having the lowest economic growth rate of Vietnam; Its economic growth model in the recent period has mainly been based on breadth, low quality of human resources, and high poverty rate. In the context of Industry 4.0, science and technology has become a key driver of economic growth. To contribute to the successful transformation of the economic growth model, the implementation of innovation and technology application in enterprises is of key significance. Based on the results of a survey on enterprises in the Central Highlands, this paper focuses on reviewing the situation of innovation and technology application in the enterprises, the investment in research and development, and several limitations in innovation and technology application in the Central Highlands enterprises.
