To increase the permeable capability of surface layers, the permeability should be considered when defining a pervious concrete (PC) mixture proportion. Due to the complexity of the PC structure, the available models in the literature are not enough to predict exactly the permeability coefficient. Therefore, this paper aims to develop a simple analytical model to predict the permeability of the PC from its compositions. In order to achieve this purpose, the two main parts of this study were proposed as follow: (1) A close form solution of the Kozeny – Carman equation-type was carried out to evaluate the relationship permeability-porosity of the pervious concrete structure; (2) A relevant dataset of 195 pervious concrete samples with different mix proportion ratios was built from a large amount of data sources collected from the reputable and open international literature to refine the free parameters of the theoretical model proposed. Then, the present models’ predicting permeability of the PC structure from its compositions was compared to independent experimental observation to show the reliability and accuracy of the proposed approach.
