Syrphidae (Diptera) were abundant on cultivated plants and weeds in North Vietnam during 2006-2007. Syrphids play an important role in the suppression of many economic importance aphid species. The larvae and adults were collected from aphid population that damaged cultivated plants and weeds. The data of aphid and syrphid population on the plant was recorded at five day intervals. In total 19 species syrphids were collected; among these 2 species (Paragus serratus (Fabricius) and P. yerburiensis Stuckenberg) are recorded from Vietnam for the first time. Two species (Epysirphus balteatus and Ischiodon scutellaris) were very common. Their population densities on Cruciferae in 2006-2007 was 0.05 - 3.5 larvae per plant.
