Most of the world's major religionsmention women and their position in society.Islam is considered a religion with greatinfluence in the world today. This religion hasrecognized some equal rights for women, whichis more progressive than in the pre-Islamicperiod. However, laws regarding women areclearly stated in the Qur’an and the Holy Law ofIslam. The Qur’an is a sacred book that recordsthe words of God Allah (Words of Allah), so theQuran is considered the supreme law and no onehas the right to change it. The Sharia Code isdeveloped from the Quran, so it is also aninviolable holy law. Therefore, things imposedby the Qur’an and Sharia Law on women's fatealso become immutable in Muslim countries.Today, in the face of globalization, traditionalArab societies also have many changes to adaptto. Arab women increasingly play a more activerole in the development process, graduallyasserting their position in the family and society.From an interdisciplinary historical-sociologicalapproach, the article offers perspectives on thechange in views of women in Arab society, fromtraditional perspectives expressed through theQur’an to current perceptions in the current days
