Di sản văn hóa được xem là nguồn lực cho tăng trưởng kinh tế, tạo ra việc làm, gắn kết xã hội và duy trì bản sắc văn hóa của Liên minh châu Âu (EU). Chính sách bảo tồn di sản văn hóa ở EU rất đa dạng, với mục tiêu bảo vệ và phát huy giá trị văn hóa của các quốc gia thành viên. Với các biện pháp bảo vệ di sản văn hóa thông qua các sáng kiến, các chương trình, EU trong nhiều năm qua được xem là hình mẫu của việc hài hòa giữa bảo tồn và phát huy giá trị của di sản văn hóa. Bài viết1 khái quát chính sách bảo tồn di sản văn hóa của EU và đưa ra một số kinh nghiệm đã đạt được trong quá trình bảo tồn và phát huy giá trị của di sản văn hóa.

Cultural heritage is considered a source for economy growth, employment generation and social cohesion, and for the maintainance of the cultural identity of the European Uni-on (EU). Cultural heritage preservation policies in the bloc are very diverse, with the goal of protecting and bringing into play the culture values of its member states.  Given its measures to preserve cultural herigate through initives and programmes, the EU has for many years now been considered a model of harmonizing preservation and bringing into play the value of the heritage. This article summarizes cultural heritage preservation policies in the European Uni-on and provides lessons of experience in the process of preserving heritage and bringing it into play.
