Hòa Bình là tỉnh miền núi, phía Tây Bắc của Tổ quốc, giáp với Thủ đô Hà Nội, cửa ngõ giao lưu giữa đồng bằng Bắc Bộ, Bắc Trung Bộ với Tây Bắc. Tài nguyên rừng của tỉnh có một vai trò vô cùng to lớn trong việc bảo vệ môi trường, sinh thái và còn là nguồn tạo ra công ăn việc làm, ổn định sinh kế cho đồng bào vùng nông thôn, miền núi. Tuy nhiên, thực tế hiện nay việc trồng, khai thác và sử dụng gỗ nói chung còn nhiều bất cập. Đây chính là một trong nhiều nguy cơ tiềm ẩn làm cho sự phát triển tài nguyên rừng ở Hoà Bình bất ổn định, hiệu quả sử dụng tài nguyên rừng chưa cao, lợi ích từ nghề rừng mang lại chưa xứng tầm, thu nhập của người dân sống bằng nghề rừng còn quá thấp. Nhằm góp phần thúc đẩy phát triển ngành lâm nghiệp nói chung, công nghiệp chế biến gỗ và lâm sản ngoài gỗ (LSNG) nói riêng theo hướng bền vững, thực hiến thắng lợi Nghị quyết số 04/NQ/ĐH của Đại hội Đại biểu đảng bộ tỉnh Hoà Bình lần thứ XVII (2021- 2025), bài báo này trình bày các kết quả nghiên cứu về đánh giá thực trạng công nghiệp chế biến gỗ và lâm sản ngoài gỗ (LSNG), với các tiêu chí: thực trạng về doanh nghiệp và các cơ sở chế biến gỗ và LSNG, về nguyên liệu, sản phẩm, công nghệ và thiết bị, quản trị doanh nghiệp và hiệu quả sản xuất, về các chính sách hỗ trợ. Đồng thời, đề xuất một số giải pháp phát triển công nghiệp chế biến gỗ và LSNG giai đoạn 2025-2030.

Hoa Binh is a mountainous province, in the Northwest of the country, bordering Hanoi Capital, the gateway for exchange between the Northern Delta, North Central and Northwest. The province's forest resources play an important role in protecting the environment and ecology and are also a source of creating jobs and stabilizing livelihoods for people in rural and mountainous areas. However, the current reality of growing, exploiting and using wood in general still has many shortcomings. This is one of many potential risks that make the development of forest resources in Hoa Binh unstable, the efficiency of forest resource use is not high, the benefits from forestry are not adequate, and people's income is not high. The population living in forestry is still too low. In order to contribute to promoting the development of the forestry industry in general, the wood processing industry and non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in particular in a sustainable direction, successfully implementing Resolution No. 04/NQ/DH of the Congress of Delegates 17th Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee (2021-2025), this article presents research results on assessing the current status of the wood and non-timber forest products (NTFP) processing industry, with the following criteria: Current status of businesses and establishments processing wood and NTFPs, raw materials, products, technology and equipment, corporate governance and production efficiency, and the support policies. At the same time, propose some solutions to develop the wood and NTFP processing industry in the period 2025-2030.
