The literature emphasizes the lack of studies of travel mode choice among high school students. In the current paper, we carry out a quantitative study of exploring factors governing the modes used to go to school for students aged between 16 and 18. Our research is based on the responses of over 800 parents of students collected in Ho Chi Minh City, in March 2022. Applying Exploratory Factor Anlaysis and Multinomial Logit Regression, we have found the correlations of a range of independent variables with the choice of one among three mode groups, including (1) e-bicycles, (2) motorcycles, and (3) active transport (walking/cycling). The results show that older age, higher household income, living in private house, positive perception of usefulness and ease of use for using motorcycles, and low perceived risk of riding motorcycles increase the likelihood of travelling by motorcycle on the road to school. Based on the findings of influential factors, solutions to boost the use of green modes (electric cycling, walking, cycling) are proposed for high school students.
