Objective: To evaluate the efficacy anesthesia and side effects of new anesthetic ropivacain in spinal anesthesia for abdominal hysterectomies. Subject and Method: 30 patients with uterine fibroids, the spinal anesthesia with 14 mg ropivacaine and 30 mcg fentanyl for abdominal hysterectomies. The study parameters: The time to achieve sensory block and motor block, duration of motor block, intraoperative hemodynamic parameters and sides effects. Result: The time to achieve sensory block to T10 was 3.86 +/- 0.92 minutes and to the maximal level was 12.47 +/- 3.74 minutes, duration of sensory block to T6 was 65.27 +/- 18:93 minutes, the time to achieve m~ximal motor block was 13.26 +/- 3.69 min, the median degree of motor block was Bromage III (82.14 percent), the duration of motor block was 95.47 +/- 30.64 minutes. The side effects such as nausea, vomiting, hypotension, bradycardia, shivering were recorded. Conclusion: Ropivacaine 14 mg used in spinal anesthesia to total hysterectomies was anesthesia effective enough for surgery, recovery time early mobilization, less common side effects are so appropriate to use in outpatient anesthesia.
