Objectives: Assess knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of sellers at private pharmacy in Hanoi on sexually transmitted infections in the absence of medical advice (STIs) by syndromic approaches. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. Results: 87 percent of pharmacies were offered a treatment in case of urethral discharge; il is 30 percent in case of genital ulcers. None of the treatment is consistent with the Vietnamese national recommendations. Related to the sexual partner, only 8.3 percent of seller asked the "patient" questions and 20 percent gave advice; only one seller advised a HIV testing, while 26.6 percent advised using condoms. Also, consulting the service which is specializing in STIs was recommended in 16.7 percent of the cases, more often in cases of genital ulcer (23 percent). Conclusions: 86,7 percent of sellers propose the treatment for patients with urethral discharge and there is 30 percent of them propose the treatment to patient with genital ulcers. They treated quickly and in the manner totally inappropriate the STIs, provided few or no relevant advices to prevention, screening and treatment. There is no treatment identic to the National recommendation to guide.
