This research was carried out questioning 214 first year students and 42 lecturers of HNUE. Interviews and a survey were conducted presenting questionnaire tables to discover the degree of mutual understanding and psychological compatibility of lecturers and students. A similarity was found between the students' self-understanding and the lecturers' understanding about students in their study areas. In others words, lecturers have a relatively accurately understanding of students regarding the students' needs, motivation, attitude and ability to carry out learning tasks. However, there is a certain difference of the lecturers' understanding about students. However, in some areas, lectures' lack an understanding of students, a relatively clear difference in understanding existing between lecturers and first year and third year students.
