This article analyzes the data from a survey conducted by the Institute for Family and Gender Studies (IFGS) in 2022 among 485 students at two high schools in Nam Dinh. By using basic description and logistic analysis methods, the article analyzes the impact of factors to the negative emotion of high school students. The group of individual characteristics, the group of modernization factors (from family-specific factors) and the participation in community activities are analyzed. The results of the analysis show that female students and students who rarely participate in extracurricular activities and who from families with higher living conditions have a higher risk of negative emotion. The article has also suggested that internet abuse and the school environment such as violence in school, relationships between teachers and students should to be analyzed in further studies.
