Niềm tin, một thành tố quan trọng của vốn xã hội, là một chủ đề đang được quan tâm nghiên cứu trong những thập niên gần đây, đặc biệt trong ứng phó với thiên tai. Bài viết này sẽ trình bày kết quả nhận diện “niềm tin” trong ứng phó thiên tai tại các cộng đồng dân cư ven biển khu vực Nam Trung Bộ. “Niềm tin” trong bài viết này được nhận diện thông qua các tiêu chí như “tầm quan trọng của niềm tin”, “niềm tin vào cộng đồng”, “niềm tin vào các tổ chức”, và “mức độ niềm tin vào sự giúp đỡ khi gặp thiên tai”. Các tiêu chí này được đo lường định lượng và định tính. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy người dân đánh giá cao tầm quan trọng của niềm tin, đặt niềm tin vào cộng đồng, trông cậy vào các mối quan hệ gia đình, họ hàng và hàng xóm khi gặp thiên tai. Đối với các tổ chức, người dân đặt niềm tin nhiều vào các Hội Liên hiệp Phụ nữ, Hội Người cao tuổi và Hội Nông dân. Khi gặp thiên tai, bên cạnh các hội này, người dân còn đặt niềm tin vào chính quyền, Đoàn Thanh Niên và Hội Chữ Thập đỏ. Ngoài ra, người dân trong các địa bàn nghiên cứu còn có niềm tin các tổ chức tôn giáo, các hội gia tộc, hội đồng hương và và các nhóm nghề nghiệp.

Trust, an important element of social capital, is a theme studied for the past decades, especially in response to natural disasters. This article presents the identification of trust in response to natural disasters in coastal communities in the Southern Central region. The trust in this article is identified via criteria such as the importance of trust, trust in community and organisations, trust in support in disasters. These criteria are measured quantitatively and qualitatively. The outcomes show that the people appreciate the importance of trust, and have trust in community and have reliance on families, neighbours and relatives in disasters. As for organisations, they have trust in Women Associations, Elderly Association and Farmers Association. Besides, they also have trust on local authorities, Youth Union and Red Cross Association. In addition, they have trust in religious associations, family associations, homeland people associations and professional groups.
