Objective: to describe the activities of providing technical services of clinical contraceptive methods; describe the results of abortion reduction, safe abortion. Subjects and methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on women of childbearing age nationwide from Sep 01 to Dec 2011. Results: The provision of contraception by intrauterine devices (IUDs), male sterilization, female sterilization, birth control pills was still being made to Vietnam women of reproductive age. However, the IUDs was set to be most applicable, followed by the contraceptive injection. Number of cases of sterilization in women was more than that in men. The number of abortions decreased, but the status of abortion with old gestational age was greater than that in 2010; complications due to abortion was decreased. Some indicators related to abortion increases was over 2010 in the Red River Delta, the North East. Conclusion: In general, activities to provide technical services of clinical contraceptive methods were quite well done. The number of abortions and complications due to abortions reduced.
