Transforming the water resource management model in the direction of circularity contributes to ensuring economic development and protecting natural resources. However, it is necessary to apply appropriate technology to reuse the treated wastewater to limit the unwanted impacts. Moreover, it is essential to rely on scientific bases, legal bases, and practical experiences to evaluate the potential of implementing water reuse activities for enterprises. This paper focuses on analyzing the water reuse approach in the world, assessing the situation of applying water reuse in Vietnam. In addition, the article also mentions barriers and challenges in the recycling cycle of wastewater in industrial production. Technological difficulties and policy barriers are also evaluated to learn how to reuse treated wastewater appropriately. Improving institutions and policies to promote the recycling and reuse of wastewater is also one of the solutions to support water security protection in Vietnam.
