Trong điều kiện khí tượng bất thường hiện nay, mô phỏng dòng chảy ngập lụt đô thị đang là bài toán ứng dụng thực tiễn rất cao trong tính toán dự báo thiên tai của mỗi quốc gia, đặc biệt là những quốc gia chịu ảnh hưởng lớn từ biến đổi khí hậu như Việt Nam.
