The recruitment of the fish stocks for East Sea comes from: (1) the nursing grounds of marine organisms in the coastal mangroves, mostly from Vietnam territory; (2) the high productivity of the Gulf of Thailand that functions as a huge estuary due to her tidal current system; (3) the spawning grounds and nursing grounds of marine organisms in the coral reefs along the coast, and mostly in. offshore islands such as Spratley islands; and (4) the high productivity of the upwelling area off Phan Thiet - Qui Nhon. Fishing grounds are established along the migrating route of fish schools from these 4 sanctuaries. This report mostly deals with the nursing grounds in point (1) with some extension in point .(2); with examples from the Camau peninsula and the district Can Gio of Ho Chi Minh City. Due to their changing behavior to currents (rheotaxis) and salinity gradient (chemiotaxis) marine organisms swarm in migrating times. Protection of nursing grounds in the mangroves consists of the stability of tidal current - mud flat system. However the fishing grounds and aquaculture claims are competing in space and time at the Afekong estuaries and the Gulf of Thailand.
