The article focuses on two key issues: 1/ The legal basis of the U.S and Japanese economic relations from 1952 to 1971; 2/ Practices of economic relations between the U.S and Japan in the two decades after the period of occupation. By doing so, the article analyzes and highlights the changes in this relationship which has shifted from favors for Japan to stop of favors and comparativeness and strong comparativeness for Japan for economic leadership position.
