This paper presents some modern methods to measure the torque on diesel propulsion shaft and analyzies their gigantic advantages in comparison with traditional direct methods in order to choose an appropriate method on research design, experimental manufacture the propulsion shaft torque meter in Vietnam to satisfy IACS's requirements and exploit ship safely, reliably and economically.
