Aim: To describe the clinical and subclinical c.haracteristics of pediatric appendicitis at the National hospital of Pediatrics. To evaluate the outcome of pediatric appendicitis' treatment at the National Hospital of Pediatrics. Results: In the majority of cases, the appendix was at usual position (86.6 percent). Common clinical symptoms: abdominal pain (100 percent), localized right lower quadrant pain (39.4 percent), loss of appetite (94.4 percent), positive right lower quadrant muscle guarding (88.0 percent), fever (43.0 percent). Subclinical: the majority of cases had an elevated wac count (91.7 percent), an elevated Neutrophils count (88.9 percent) and abdominal ultrasound suggested appendidtis (59.3 percent). 100 percent of cases confirmed appendicitis by pathology, 74.1 percent of which was acute appendicitis and 16.2 percent was acute purulent appendicitis. Most of the patients had good treatment outcome (99.5 percent) with all symptoms resolved without any complications. The average hospital stay was 4.2 percent 1.7 days. Conclusion: Most of the cases had specific signs of symptoms of acute appendicitis. Laparoscoplc surgery for pediatric appendicitis is safe, with low complication rate, cosmetic and can reduce the length of hospital stay.
