Objectives: To assess major results of clinical diagnosis, care and treatment of HIV/ AIDS, and early warning indicators of mv drug resistance. Methods: Data on ARV outcomes and early warning indicators on mv drug resistance (EWI) were collected in 24 ART sites in the 14 Southern provinces/cities: HCM city, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Can Tho, Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau between 11/2011 and 01/2012 via ART treatment books. Results: after 12 months, percentage of patients who are still on ART, died and lost to follow-up were 82.0 percent, 9.8 percent, and 6.7 percent, respectively. Majority (57.5 percent) of the patients started ART in the late stage and this could affect mortality rate. Dead would be the cause of the loss to follow-up. Correlation between late clinical staging and low CD4 count was not found. Conclusions: A number of results meet requirements of WHO; yet, some sites had considerably high loss to follow-up and mortality rates, and poor ART retention rate. It is necessary to strengthen mv early detection, diagnosis and management and to enhance physicians's capacity of classification of HIV clinical staging and timely treatment.
