March 20th is chosen as the International Day of Happiness. The day is also the vernal equinox - a special day of the lunnar year when the centre of the sun is directly above the Equator, so day and night are approximately equal in length. It is considered a symbol of equilibrium, the universe’s harminzation, the balance between yin and yang, light and darkness, dreams and reality... Hence, the day is said to leave the message that Equilibrium is one of the keys to bring happiness. New Yorker Magazine has raised a question Can we have prosperity without growth? Giorgos Kallis, an economist at the University of Barcelona, wrote in the manifesto "Degrowth" “The faster we produce and consume goods, the more we damage the environment” and “If humanity is not to destroy the planet’s life support systems, the global economy should slow down.”
