Culture and geo-cultural areas are research objects of different sciences and humanities, including geography. Cultural geography is still something new to Vietnamese geographers. which needs interdisciplinary approach and methods. Analyzing different concepts on culture, geo-cultural area and its components, the author aims to clarify fundamentals in researching geo-cultural areas in Vietnam. The author also deals with two important issues in researching the case-study of Red river delta: it is the attitude of the inhabitants to the nature and space of handicraft villages.
