In Quang Ninh, the coal mining and processing industry has developed strongly over the years, creating many job opportunities and contributing to improving the province's budget income. Besides the positive aspects, the activities of coal exploration, mining and processing also cause many negative impacts on the environment. In particular, the protection of the land environment and solid waste management planning of the coal industry has always been one of the major challenges faced by the province in recent years. In order to improve the efficiency of coal project management in association with the province's environmental protection requirements, the article presents the results of setting up a soil environmental monitoring program, surveying the current state of solid waste management generated at the Nui Beo coal mine of Quang Ninh Province that the research team implemented in 2020. These results are the basis for supporting local management agencies to soon have timely orientations and solutions to reduce pollution, contributing to the realization of Quang Ninh's goal by 2030 on transforming the development mode from "brown" to "green".
