The models of renal failure are considered as important tools to study mechanism and preclinical treatment. Adenine-based protocols to induce renal failure are available in rats, but have not been adapted in mice due to their reluctance to consume adenine. In this study, the authors developed a method for induction of acute renal failure through forced adenine ingestion in mice within 2 weeks. Adenine-ingestive mice showed that uremia level is higher than that in control group. Histopathology showed the lesion on glomerulus and tubules.
