This paper presents an effective fuzzy structural analysis procedure for the behavior quantification of structures with fuzzy parameters. A modified fuzzy computation technique based on first-order Taylor’s expansion of the structural response is integrated with the -cut strategy to reduce the number of deterministic structural analyses. The procedure is implemented in MATLAB with the aim of linking to available deterministic structural analysis software. Two examples of bar-type structures, a 2D truss, and a 2D frame, are investigated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed procedure. The numerical results show that the proposed procedure can capture relatively accurate membership function of the displacement and member force with low computational cost, compared with the fuzzy analysis using direct optimization.
