Initiated in the 1970s, after only a few decades, Korea’s "Saemaul Undong" had completely changed the life of rural communities. The establishment of an appropriate value system promoted a range of good qualities of the fanners in the community, especially the qualities of industry, self- reliance, and consensus. Success in building new villages is not only about improving productivity, quality and efficiency, but also helping the country to industrialize and modernize niral communities, quickly nanowing the development gap between urban and rural areas. Based on secondary sources, the article analyzes Korea's rural community development experience and suggests some policy implications for the development of lam nong in our country in the cunent context.
