In the present work, zinc oxide nanoparticles were prepared by wet direct prepcipitating method using zinc nitrate and zinc ammonium carbonate in water or ethanol. Morphology, particle size, crystal structure and characteristics of nano ZnO were examined by SEM, XRD, TGA. These nanoparticles with range size of 20-30 nm was formed favourably after drying at 80°C and heated at 350-400°C. The hydrophobic property of 2 percent ZnO nanoparticles coated fabric was determined by measurement of contact angle. Hydrophobic ability of the nano-ZnO coated fabrics was significantly higher than the control that leading potential application of antimicrobial and selt-cleaning fabrics.
