The study on biological characteristics of Encarsia transvena Timberlake was conducted under the conditions of 30 +/- 2°C, 65 +/- 5 percent RH in Insect Laboratory at Nong Lam University. E. transvena is a tiny pale yellow-bodied parasitoid wasp, which averaged 0.601 +/- 0.049 mm long and 0,243 +/- 0,019 mm broad for females and 0.531 +/- 0.045 mm long and 0,531 +/- 0,045 mm broad for males. Their head with a triangle - liked stematicum have antenna with six - segmented perdicel. Fore wings are hyaline with marginal setaes and a conspicous area of 7 - 11 long setae. Abdominal has 8 segments and ovipositor elongated from fourth segment to eighth segment. Developmental time of E. transvena was 12.15 +/- 0.33 days. The fecudity was about 22.75 +/- 2.35 eggs in whole life of a female. In the absence of host, 30 percent honey solution was a type of non- host food which could elongate the longevity of E. transvena in 3 - 4 days. E. transvena is a solitary parasitoid, emerging rate was about 96.38 +/- 5.62 percent, female rate was 82.33 +/- 3.06 percent. Third instar of B. tabaci was the most suitable host for E. transvena.
