Nghiên cứu này đã tiến hành chiết tách tinh dầu sả và khảo sát hiệu lực tiêu diệt, khả năng gây ngán ăn và ức chế sự sinh trưởng của tinh dầu sả đối với sâu tơ (Plutella xylostella L.). Kết quả phân tích sắc ký khí khối phổ (GC- MS) cho thấy thành phần chính của tinh dầu sả là citral (25,6%), geraniol (20,1%), isopulegol (8,18%), safrole (2,7%), methyl eugenol (1,8%), estragole (1,0%). Kết quả nghiên cứu cũng chỉ ra tinh dầu sả ở nồng độ 0,5% có hiệu lực tiêu diệt 72,13% sâu tơ tuổi 2 sau 48 giờ. Hiệu lực gây ngán ăn trên 80% đối với nghiệm thức không có sự lựa chọn thức ăn ở nồng độ tinh dầu 0,5%. Cũng ở nồng độ 0,5% tinh dầu khả năng gây ức chế với quá trình nhộng hóa và vũ hóa của sâu tơ, đạt lần lượt 15,19% và 10,21% với tinh dầu sả, tỷ lệ này đạt 12,42% và 8,23% đối với tinh dầu sả kết hợp với tinh dầu tỏi. Kết quả trong nghiên cứu này cho thấy có tiềm năng diệt trừ và phòng chống sâu tơ hiệu quả của tinh dầu sả và sự kết hợp của tinh dầu sả với tinh dầu tỏi trong việc ức chế sự sinh trưởng và phát triển của loài sâu này.

Diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella L.) is a major pest of cruciferous vegetables, and their destruction causes serious damage to the yield and quality of this vegetable. Finding a new pesticide capable of killing and inhibiting the growth of this pest is an urgent issue and is encouraged by the recommendations about drug resistance and the serious environmental impact of the insect currently used chemical pesticides. In this study, we extracted lemongrass essential oil and investigated the repellency, killing, anorexia and growth inhibition of citronella oil against diamondback moth. The results of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis showed that the main components of lemongrass essential oil are citral (25.6%), geraniol (20.1%), isopulegol (8.18%), safrole (2.7%), methyl eugenol (1.8%), estragole (1.0%). Research results also showed that a lemongrass essential oil concentration of 0.5% was effective in killing 72.13% of 2-year-old diamondback moths after 48 hours. The anorexia efficacy was over 80% for the treatment without food choice at the concentration of 0.5% essential oil.
At the concentration of 0.5% essential oil, the ability to inhibit the pupation and exocytosis of diamondback moth, reached 15.19% and 10.21%, respectively, with lemongrass essential oil, this rate reached 12.42% and 8.23% for lemongrass oil combined with garlic essential oil. The results in this study showed that there was an effective eradication and prevention of silkworms of lemongrass essential oil and the combination of lemongrass essential oil with garlic essential oil in inhibiting the growth and development of this insect.
