The study results from interviews of and surveys presented to 2131 students and 217 teachers of 8 high schools in Hanoi in order to ascertain the current status of career counseling in vocational high schools. It was found that students obtain career counseling primarily from their head teachers in the form of personal consultation via email. Sometimes teachers advise students over the telephone or in a direct meeting. It was found that the teachers' felt that they were quite capable of providing high quality career counseling, being highly knowledgeable about the nature and character of various careers and the training required for those careers. Teachers felt that the best skill to have i's the skill to search for and find information.
