In recent years, the concept of “three warfares ” has been used regularly and become essential elements of China's strategic approach in relations with neighboring countries, especially in the East Sea. In response to those activities, States, including Vietnam, have invoked various measures, which can be generalized as the concept of “three publicized measures ”. The article focuses on the identification of: The concept of “three warfares ” and its connotation; The deployment of “three warfares ” in the East Sea; Challenges posed by the “three warfares" to Vietnam as well as opportunities to implement the “three publicized measures” to deal with those challenges, contributing to firmly safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and national interests at sea, in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
