Objective: To evaluate the frequency of related factors, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment for stroke patients of Phu Tho province. Subject and method: A retrospective and cross-sectional study pn 2,208 stroke patients in Phu Tho province from 2006 to 2010 were counted based on a similar disease record. Result and conclusion: male: 64.3 percent, female: 35.7 percent; the overall mean age was (66.7 +/- 12.9); from onset to hospital: post 24h: 41.4 percent; history of stroke: 13.8 percent; diabetes: 13.3 percent; hypertension: 70.1 percent. The proportion of diagnosis (clinical and CT.Scan or MRI) of stroke patients of the district-level hospitals accounted for 35.3 percent. The overall mean time of diagnosis was 9.4 +/- 8.6 hours. And those in the provincial hospital were 95.4 percent and 7.3 +/- 14.1 hours. The treatment results of the district-level hospitals were as followed: good: 31.0 percent; invalid: 49.3 percent, and dead: 19.7 percent; And those in the provincial hospital were 33.5 percent, 34.5 percent and 32.0 percent respectively.
