Coastal environment has been paid attention by both Vietnamese and Belgian partners for decades. Since 1998, IMER and VUB have developed and implemented a series of projects on the scientific instruments for coastal environmental management. The interested areas have covered not only geographic extent but also sectoral activity in Vietnam. The good outcomes from the projects implemented by both sides have been materials for both sides to develop lurger projects (including ongoing one) with the participation of other pprtners from Europe such as the ones from the Netherlands, Greece and from Vietnam and Asia as the Cambodian and then other European partners from Italy, Sweden, Portugal, England, etc. The success of the implementing those projects indicates the larger and larger effects of the cooperation and collaboration between Vietnamese partners and European partners as well as other Asian partners. It is also shown that this is one of the good ways to develop the international cooperation and collaboration between and among partners in marine and coastal environment study.
