Databases increasingly play an important role in management activity of different sectors, including that of sea and islands. Many database components have been developed for different specific objectives of the sector. At present, the West Sea of Vietnam is of high concern to be investigated to serve the implementation of the strategy of moving toward the seas of the country. To better meet the requirements of data/information development, integration and sharing in support of the development of Vietnam marine economy, the development of Vietnam Islands Chart Database becomes urgent and indispensable in the current context.
