Objective: to study the effect of occipital nerve block with corticoids in treatment in occipital neuralgia. Assessment of adverse events may be encountered after occipital nerve block. Subject and Method: a prospective and follow-up of 97 patients with occipital neuralgia were diagnosed according to the criteria of the ICHD-3 and the treatment in the Department of Neurology - No.108 Military Central Hospital from February 2014 to December 2014. Result: occipital nerve block or occipital nerves block combining with cervical block have VAS decreased from 6.91 +/- 1.19 to 1.74 +/- 1.31 (p0.05) and there have been no differences between the two groups. The most common adverse events after injections pain at the injection site was occupied 64.9 percent and feeling dizzy after injection was 52.6 percent. These effects aren't treatments. Conclusion: The treatment of occipital neuralgia with occipital nerve block are safe and effective.
