Vietnamese coastal area has 15 main soil groups with 37 different kinds of soil. Among them, alkalline soil group has 2 units, they are active alkalline soil and potentiaralkalline soil with a total area of 489.5 thousands ha, make up 8.8 percent, arrange mainly in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Ho Chi Minh City and coastal areas of Mekong delta. Alkaline soil has quite high potential fertility, however using of this kind is not very effective. So, if it is improved effectively, the authors can increase the number of crops and wide cultivated area very much. Depend on the particularity of coastal alkalline soil group, the project researchers brings out some solutions to use this kind effectively and sustainablily.
