In order to assess the current status of heavy metal pollution in the river mouths in Quang Nam province and Da Nang city, field sampling methods, analyzing heavy metal concentrations in water and sediment samples, and data processing were conducted. The study analyzed the content of some heavy metals (Pb, Cr, Cd) in some Quang Nam province and Da Nang city estuaries, carried out in three large estuaries: Han river estuary and Da Nang river. Cu De (Da Nang) and Vu Gia - Thu Bon (Quang Nam), with a total of 11 water and sediment samples, were collected from these areas. The analysis of sediment samples in the study area shows that the heavy metal content in sediments in the Han river estuary, Cu De river, and Vu Gia - Thu Bon river is quite low, all within the allowable limit according to the law. QCVN 43:2017/BTNMT Regulations on sediment quality, so there are no signs of pollution in the study area. The analysis of heavy metals in water samples shows that the Cd2+ content is relatively low in all estuarine areas with values within the allowable limits of QCVN 08:2023/BTNMT. However, the Cr6+ and Pb2+ analyzed in water samples were found to exceed the allowable limit of QVCN 08:2023/BTNMT on surface water quality at some sampling locations, especially Cr6+ when recorded exceeding the allowable limit in 8 collecting points (total in 11) in this study. From there, it can be seen that the risks of Cr6+ and Pb2+ metal pollution still exist, and early warnings about the risk of Chromium and Lead metal pollution in estuary areas of Da Nang and Quang Nam.
