The article seeks to introduce traditional ways of national historical compilation in the period of Le - Trinh. It then comes to affirm that Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu (Complete Book of the Historical Records of Dai Viet) published in 1697 is the great achievement of Dai Viet, a long result of research during more than 400 years of the official history between the 13th and 17th centuries. Vu Mien, born in 1718 in Xuan Lan commune, Luong Tai district, Ngoc Quan hamlet, Lam Thao commune, Luong Tai district, Bac Ninh province, was named for the Supervisor in Chief of the Historiography Institute when he was 57 years old. The article seeks to reappraise his positive contribution as Supervisor in Chief in the compilation of Dai Viet su ky tuc bien in the Le - Trinh court.
