As a poor mountainous district whose inhabitants are mainly of different ethnic minority groups, Vo Nhai is facing a great deal of challenges of reducing poverty sustainably. In this article, the factors related to the ability of overcoming poverty of the ethnic minority households in Vo Nhai district are deeply analyzed. The analysis illuminates the existing restrictions. Thus, based on the analysis of advantages and disadvantages that the local people have, the researcher proposes some solutions to help them rely on themselves in getting rid of poverty.
