Locating in the tropical area and surrounding by the East Sea, the Vietnam sea inherits a highest abundance in term of marine biodiversity. With the total area of waterbodies by 1 billion/cm2 (equivalent by 3 times of the total area for tnland and islands), there were 11000 species of the marine flora andfauna have been recorded in which many rare/endangered species to be listed in the Vietnam Red Book and the IUCN Red List of Threantened Species. In accordance with. the intergrated marine survey programs carried out in many decades, there were thousands of speciments have been collected, preserved or exhibited in the marine museums of Vietnam and some other countries in the world. Besides the establishment of marine museums was set up recently in land, a network of the mqrine protected areas contained 16 MP As has been approved by the priminister in order to conserve the biotic and non-biotic resources. This will contribute the appropriate facilities and plays as the undetachable unit in the Vietnam natural science museum system.
