Polyvinylformal (PVF) has been modified by phenol cardanol-foemaldehyde resins (PCF) with a view to improving the properties of the insulating emall vanish for copper wires. It was found that the vanish films the composition with the propotion of PVF/PCF = 60/40 (w/w) and the ratio ofphenol to cardanol = 1/1 (w/w) showed the best physico-mechanical properties heat resistance and electric properties, and the lowest decrease in the electric properties after being immarsed info water for 24 hrs
