Groundwater in the Northern Delta, including Nam Dinh province, exists mainly in quaternary and Nogen sedimentary disjoint formations. Due to incomplete investigation, inappropriate exploitation and use, groundwater resources are fluctuating strongly. Groundwater in some places is declining in both quantity and quality. The article introduces the results of assessment of the current status of underground water resources on the distribution of aquifers, potential reserves of underground water, current status of exploitation and use of Nam Dinh province, and at the same time analyzes the changes in resources. water resources in terms of quantity and quality in recent years, assess the causes of such fluctuations and propose solutions for sustainable exploitation of groundwater resources in Nam Dinhprovince. In order to effectively exploit and use underground water, it is necessary to have the contribution of all levels, sectors, mining units and people using water. It is necessary to take measures to manage water resources, improve the efficiency of use in accordance with the goal of sustainable development. Organize the implementation of the master plan on basic survey of water resources, in which the exploitation planning is reasonable, adjust the current underground water exploitation plan accordingly, ensuring that the total exploitation volume does not exceed the reserve. of groundwater, not exceeding the threshold of safe exploitation. Keywords: Groundwater; reserves; quality; efficient exploitation.
