Nước dưới đất (NDĐ) ở Đồng bằng Bắc bộ trong đó có tỉnh Nam Định tồn tại chủ yếu trong các thành tạo bở rời trầm tích Đệ tứ và Nogen. Do điều tra nghiên cứu chưa đầy đủ, khai thác sử dụng chưa hợp lý, tài nguyên NDĐ đang biến động mạnh mẽ. NDĐ ở một số nơi đang bị suy giảm cả về trữ lượng và chất lượng. Bài báo giới thiệu kết quả đánh giá hiện trạng tài nguyên NDĐ về sự phân bố các tầng chứa nước (TCN), trữ lượng tiềm năng NDĐ, hiện trạng khai thác sử dụng tỉnh Nam Định, đồng thời phân tích sự biến động tài nguyên nước về số lượng và chất lượng trong thời gian qua, đánh giá các nguyên nhân gây ra những biến động đó và đề xuất các giải pháp phục vụ khai thác bền vững tài nguyên NDĐ tỉnh Nam Định. Nhằm mục tiêu khai thác sử dụng NDĐ hiệu quả, cần có sự chung tay đóng góp của các cấp, các ngành, các đơn vị khai thác và người dân sử dụng nước. Cần có các biện pháp về quản lý tài nguyên nước, nâng cao hiệu quả sử dụng ứng với mục tiêu phát triển bền vững. Tổ chức thực hiện quy hoạch tổng thể điều tra cơ bản tài nguyên nước trong đó quy hoạch khai thác hợp lý, điều chỉnh phương án khai thác nước dưới đất hiện tại cho phù hợp, đảm bảo tổng lượng khai thác không vượt quá trữ lượng của NDĐ, không vượt ngưỡng giới hạn khai thác an toàn.
