Under President Joko Widodo’s administration since 2014, the Indonesian government has focused on promoting the process of democratic reform and social and economic development by adjusting policies toward national development targets and deeper international integration, given that domestic and international contexts have undergone significant changes. The development situation in Indonesia has shown both achievements and drawbacks of these reforms and adjustments, including in the cul tural policies. This article aims to clarify the influence of globalization, government alliances, and national development targets on the adjustment of national cultural policies in Indonesia. Additionally, this article analyzes the fundamental changes in Indonesia's cultural policies, such as organizational structure, objectives, content, and the role of Islam. On this basis, the article assesses the achievements and challenges and provides cultural policy implications for Indonesia in the future.
