For a developing country where the trend of population aging has been fastobserved while the average income per capita has just reached the medium low level like Vietnam, encouraging the elder to continue working is also considered as a critical solution to reduce the government's spending burden. This article uses data of the ministry-level project on "Promotion of the elderly's resources in socio-economic development, adapting to the aging population context of Vietnam" with a sample of 400 elder persons, to analyze employment status, employment type and nature of employment of the elderly; and at the same time to analyze their purpose to join the labor market from the perspectives of gender, age, and education status. The research results show that the percentage of working elder in Da Nang is relatively high. Most of them involved in the simple work. The variables of health, living standards, income significantly influences on the elderly's working status. In differences among groups of the elders from diffference social addition, there are remarkable and economic backgrounds.
