The impact of the phenomenon of global climate change and the seriously shortage of fossil energy sources… along with increasing the consumption demand of raw material and discharge of urban waste has created challenges to the process of sustainable urban development. Initially, the architects and constructorsthought that it is necessary to develop technology solutions to build ecology urban, green urban with projects of energy save, friendly environment; Then, it has been set out a more comprehensive: that is planning and design of green urban and sustainable urban. Thus, it is able to say that the green city is a newly used term in recent years. Especially, after a series of World Conference on Green City have been held annually in Australia since 2007-2012 (by Committees of Green Architecture and Real Estate of Australia to host and chair). In Vietnam, in big cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, that are often appearing advertising programs on real estate: urban ecology zone, green urban, eco house, ...towards people live close - friendly natural environment. So, the aim of this report is to clarify the concepts and inner meaning of those term to understand properly and fully these terms.
