Feline Herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1), loại ADN virus sợi đôi có vỏ bọc, là một trong những tác nhân chính gây bệnh đường hô hấp trên và bệnh ở mắt của mèo. Nghiên cứu này được thực hiện nhằm ứng dụng phương pháp PCR trong chẩn đoán FHV-1. Nghiên cứu được tiến hành trên 317 mèo. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy có 62 trong số 317 mèo (19,56%) có dấu hiệu mắc FHV-1 bằng phương pháp chẩn đoán lâm sàng. Có 22/62 ca dương tính với FHV-1 bằng phương pháp PCR, chiếm tỉ lệ 35,48%. Có 22/317 ca dương tính với FHV-1, chiếm 6,94% so với tổng số mèo được khảo sát. Mèo nhỏ hơn 12 tháng tuổi có tỉ lệ mắc FHV-1 cao hơn mèo trưởng thành và mèo chưa được tiêm vacxin có tỉ lệ mắc FHV-1 cao hơn mèo đã tiêm vacxin. Mèo mắc FHV-1 có biểu hiện lâm sàng chủ yếu như mệt mỏi, chán ăn, tiết dịch mắt, tiết dịch mũi, hắt hơi, viêm kết mạc, viêm giác mạc, ngoài ra một số biểu hiện bị loét miệng và sốt. Kết quả nghiên cứu chỉ tiêu huyết học cho thấy chỉ số bạch cầu tăng nhẹ (17,77 ± 0,70  103/μl) ở các ca mắc bệnh do FHV-1.

Feline Herpesvirus 1 (FHV-1), an enveloped double-stranded DNA virus, is one of the major pathogens of feline upper respiratory tract disease (URTD) and ocular disease. This study aimed to apply PCR techniques for diagnosis of FHV-1. The study was conducted on 317 cats. The results showed that there were 62 out of 317 cats (19.56%) identified with the signs of FHV-1 infected cats by the clinical diagnosis method. Twenty-two out of 62 cats were positive with FHV-1 by PCR method accounting for 35.48%. Twenty-two out of 317 cats were positive with FHV-1 accounting for 6.94% compared with a total of the investigated cats. The Feline Herpesvirus -1 infection rate in cats < 12 months higher than adult cats and FHV-1 infection rate in unvaccinated cats higher than vaccinated cats. The disease was clinically manifested by severe depression, anorexia, ocular disc-harge, nasal disc-harge, sneezing, conjunctivitis, keratitis. In addition, some cats have had oral ulceration and fever. Almost all cats with FHV-1 have presented a slight increase of white blood cells (17.77 ± 0.89  103 /µl).
